The Carolinas District is launching its own Virtual Chorus Project. This will be a compilation of videos people record of themselves singing the same song. The first piece up for recording is Clay Hine’s new song “It’s the Music that Brings Us Together.” If you click on the links below, you will find folders with learning tracks, conducting guide videos, a score, and a PDF with detailed instructions on how to make your video. The deadline for your submissions to this project is 10PM on Saturday, July 18.
There are 5 different conducting videos for you to work with. The video portion is identical but the audio file is either a mixed track or part dominant tracks if you’re more comfortable recording from one of those.
Please note: the score is in Ab major — the TTBB version that Clay published. We want this to be a MIXED project, but rather than pitch it all the way up to C, where Clay published his mixed version, I’ve settled on the key of Bb. The learning tracks (and videos) are in the correct key (Bb). If you have already downloaded a score from the BHS, either version should work — but you’ll need to sing with these tracks, specifically. Gentlemen should choose the part they normally sing in TTBB arrangements. Ladies are encouraged to sing ANY of the four parts, if they have the range to comfortably reach everything, AT PITCH with the men (not transposing up an octave).
It’s our hope to be able to have this video ready to release by early August. If you have ANY questions about how to go about doing this that aren’t answered in the PDF, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Let’s keep SINGING!
